Mould Testing of Children's Toys

Recently we've been inundated by questions regarding how best to test for mould on or in children's toys and pacifiers like 'Sophie the Giraffe'. The problem with many of these toys is that they are difficult to clean due to the fact that saliva gets inside many of these toys. Over time and coupled with usually warm conditions under blankets, these conditions favour mould growth leading to biofilm formation. Even sanitisers like Milton's solution or steam can fail to remove these biofilms once they have already formed. If you are in doubt about any of your child's toys, then you can easily use our DIY kits to swab the toys and determine if they are safe and mould-free or contaminated and unhygienic. By way of an example, our 3-plate kit will allow you to test 3 toys.
